Cody's Page

Cody began fly fishing at the age of 8 when exploring the attic of old farm house on property his father had purchased. There on a shelf there was a dusty case, inside a bamboo fly rod along with a reel. Add to this a pond full of Bass and Bluegills, and that's all it took.

At 19 he became a coast guard licensed Captain on the Chesapeake Bay running a charter boat for the next 20 years. While living and raising 3 children on the banks of the Little Choptank River he became familiar with Striped Bass, known as Rockfish in Maryland, Bluefish, Weakfish, Red and Black Drum.

As his children grew older, he was able to take his fly rods on the road. He soon began taking trips to Canada for large Pike, Alaska for Salmon and Trout, and Florida for the big three Bonfish, Permit and Tarpon. It was there that his obsession with flats fishing started.

Over the last 25 years he has fished many places such as the Bahamas, Mexico, Honduras, and often Florida to name a few. It is in Belize where that he has come to love the most. That being said, it is Turneffe Island Resort is his favorite place to fish. He feels that there is no other place on earth that has the diversity and the vast varieties of fish that can be found there. To this date he has caught and released 136 Permit, with best day of 6 all on fly all at TIR, Tarpon over 200lbs with many over 150lbs all at TIR, and schools of Bonefish up to 500 fish all while at TIR.

Without Turneffe Island Resort he feels he couldn’t have become the world’s leader in Flats Grand Slams, Bonefish, Permit, Tarpon caught in one day with only a fly rod and flies.

Cody is often referred to as the Slam Man. Come visit Cody soon at Turneffe Island Resort.
